Bodog Poker Site Review
Summary:   B +
Bodog, one of the more-established online sportsbooks, launched a poker room two years ago that has generated a lot of positive feedback to date.  While not yet featuring as large a player base as the industry giants (e.g. Party Poker, Poker Stars, Poker Room), their site is definitely on the right track, with a recent software upgrade, and frequent World Series of Poker qualifiers.  Note also that while some other online sportsbooks don't accept American clients, Bodog is notable exception, allowing US citizens to wager on practically any sporting league or event you can name worldwide.  Be sure to check out their signature $100+9 Sunday tournament, with a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000, which nearly always features a healthy overlay.

Sign-up Bonus
Bodog has provided Law School Poker with a customized sign-up bonus code for our readers.  Enter LAWSCHOOLPOKER (all one word – no spaces) in the “Referral Number” field on Bodog’s new account registrationscreen, and receive bottomless 10% bonuses on all deposits you make, both initial and subsequent.  IMPORTANT: you must follow a link to Bodog from Law School Poker, such as this one to be eligible to use this customized sign-up code. See detailed instructions for this bonus on our Law School Poker Bonus Codes page.

Software:   B
Bodog introduced their highly-touted software upgrade late last year to mixed reviews.  Their original interface had proven quite popular with players who enjoyed its simple and uncluttered graphics and table design.  The new software features more bells and whistles, such as a “picture-in-picture” style display option for playing multiple tables, and a single-window tabbed navigation structure for switching between open tables and the lobby.  As with any innovative change, the new software had some early critics who preferred the original no-frills style, but the upgrade is finally gaining in popularity, with many of the initial bugs having been resolved.

Caliber of competition:   A +
Like Pacific Poker, Bodog enjoys a steady influx of less-skilled players from its sportsbook and non-poker stable of gaming offerings, resulting in surprisingly juicy tables, especially on the limit hold’em side at stakes as high as $30/$60.  It is not uncommon to have 5 to 7 players to each flop in a 10-person game.  Their shorthanded tables are also notoriously profitable, although (as is the case with any site populated largely with novices) players will undoubtedly suffer through their share of bad beats when their opponents’ longshot draws come in.

Customer service:   A
Bodog loves to tout its “15-minute email response turnaround time,” and we have indeed been pleased with its general adherence thereto.  Email responses to our queries were sometimes unclear and poorly written, but with their quick turnaround time it usually did not take long to receive a satisfactory reply to a follow-up email.
