True Poker Site Review
Summary:   B +

True Poker features one of the most sophisticated graphical interfaces we've ever seen for a poker site, making it feel like a futuristic first-person role-playing game.  The player base is small, but growing steadily, and with a recent feature article in Maxim magazine (one of their partners), True Poker seems to be headed in the right direction.  Game-play there is a truly unique experience.  If you're looking to get down to business with a serious game of cards, you may find the extensive graphics a little over-the-top and distracting, but we found play there to be a refreshing breather from the 2-dimensional norm we've grown accustomed to.

Software:  A
The True Poker graphical interface is truly unlike any other poker software out there (see thumbnail to the right.)  Better? That's tough to say; it depends to a large extent on the player's preferences.  Several readers have commented that they like their table appearance as simple as possible -- but if you want simple, look elsewhere!  True Poker features a relatively realistic 3-D layout, and even includes options for custom audiobytes, although we found that the software could be slow at times.

Caliber of competition:   B +
True Poker wields the same double-edged sword as many medium-sized sites: relatively soft games, but occasional difficulty in finding active tables at the middle and higher stakes.  We imagine that their recent endorsement from mainstream Maxim will alleviate this problem to some degree, as new players continue to discover this nice site.

Customer service:   B +
Customer service at True Poker is average, with both phone and email support (although the overseas phone number they provide is not toll-free, which defeats the purpose, to some extent.)  We appreciated, however, that the phone reps seemed to go out of their way to give courteous and personal support.  Now just work on getting a toll-free number guys!
